CommunityCAD docs: Membership tiers

CommunityCAD

Membership tiers

Free, Supporter, Believer, Professional and Enterprise, and every way to get each one.

Every account starts on the Free tier, and every public model can be downloaded on it. Higher tiers raise your download limits and remove ads. You can pay for a tier, or earn one by uploading models or by supporting creators.

The tiers#

TierPriceDownloads per dayDownloads per weekAds
Free (and signed-out visitors)$0520Yes
Supporter$0.99 / month1050None
Believer$9.99 / month50200None
Professional$19.99 / monthUnlimitedUnlimitedNone

That's everything a tier changes today: download limits and ads. Every tier gets every site feature. For needs beyond Professional (a team, an organisation, or commercial use of the API), email contact@communitycad.dev.

How download limits count#

  • One download = one model, per day. Downloading several files from the same model, or the same model again, on the same day counts once.
  • Your own models never count.
  • Printers count separately. A model sent to a printer through the Klipper plugin counts once for that printer, in the same allowance.
  • Days reset at midnight UTC; weeks reset Monday 00:00 UTC. Your profile's Payments tab shows how much you've used and when it resets.
  • Signed-out visitors get the Free limits, counted per internet connection (IP address).
  • When you hit a limit, the download is refused (it doesn't use anything) and you're told when it resets. You also get a heads-up when you've used most of the day's allowance.

Paying for a tier#

  1. Go to Subscribe and choose a tier.
  2. Pay through Stripe's secure checkout on the page. It's billed monthly, in US dollars, from the day you subscribe; there's no yearly plan and no free trial.
  3. The tier applies right away.

Managing it:

  • Switch tier at any time from Subscribe. The change is immediate, and Stripe prorates it: you pay the difference for the rest of the month, or get credit toward your next bill.
  • Cancel at any time from your profile → Payments. You keep the tier until the end of the month you've paid for, then go back to Free (or to any tier you've earned). You can resume before then.
  • Manage billing opens Stripe's billing portal for your card and invoices.
  • If a payment fails, your paid benefits pause until a payment goes through, and we email you. Stripe retries the card; once a payment succeeds, the tier comes back.

All subscription payments are final. Cancel any time and you won't be charged again, but payments already made aren't refunded, including for the rest of the month. Payments are processed by Stripe. See the Terms of Service.

Earning a tier by uploading#

Creators who share good, well-documented work earn tiers for free:

TierYou need
Supporter10 public models
Believer25 public models, and an average accuracy rating of 3.0 or more
Professional50 public models, and an average accuracy rating of 3.5 or more
  • The average covers all your public models; a model nobody has rated counts as 0, so ratings matter.
  • Once you qualify, the tier starts after 30 days (it's checked once a day), so it can't be gamed by a burst of uploads.
  • If you drop below the requirement, you get 7 days' grace before the tier is lowered.

Earning Supporter by donating#

Support three or more different creators at the same time and you get Supporter free. Each creator needs either a running monthly donation from you, or a one-time donation in the last 30 days. See Donations.

Early Bird#

Early Bird was a programme for the first members, who joined with an invite code. It's closed to new members. Existing Early Bird members don't see ads, and once they've kept 10 public models for 90 days they keep Supporter permanently. The progress card on their profile shows how far along they are.

When you qualify more than one way#

  • While you have an active paid subscription, you get the tier you pay for.
  • Without one, you get the highest tier you've earned (by uploading, donating or Early Bird).
  • If you cancel a paid tier, you fall back to the highest tier you've earned, not to Free.
