Age and 18+ content
Why we ask your date of birth, and how 18+ content is marked, blurred and hidden.
CommunityCAD is for sharing designs freely, including some that aren't for everyone. Content for adults is marked 18+, kept away from younger people, and shown to adults the way they choose.
Your date of birth#
The first time you sign in, the sign-up screen asks for your date of birth. We use it only to apply age rules:
- Under 13: we can't create an account.
- 13 to 17: you can use everything on CommunityCAD except 18+ content, which never appears for you: not in search, lists or the feed, and not even by direct link.
- 18 and over: you can see 18+ content, blurred by default.
Your date of birth is never shown on your profile or anywhere else. You set it once; to correct a mistake, email contact@communitycad.dev. Please give your real date of birth: lying about your age breaks the Terms.
When you turn 18, 18+ content becomes available automatically.
What's marked 18+#
Creators must mark content 18+ when it is:
- adult or sexual content, including nudity;
- firearms, firearm parts or firearm accessories;
- graphic violence or gore.
Moderators mark anything that should have been marked and wasn't. If you find unmarked 18+ content, use Report and choose Should be marked 18+.

How 18+ content looks#

Your own models are never hidden or blurred for you.
Wherever it appears, 18+ content has no ads and no Donate button. Link previews for 18+ models show an 18+ panel instead of the image. On the home page, 18+ models only appear in Trending and Recent if you've chosen Show.
On your printer#
CommunityCAD for Klipper can't blur images yet, so it shows 18+ models only to adults who've chosen Show. With Blur or Hide, they don't appear on the printer at all.
Changing your setting#
Adults can change how 18+ content is shown in their profile → Notifications → Content and emails:
- Blur: shown blurred, with a button to reveal (the default);
- Show: shown normally, marked 18+;
- Hide: never shown.
Posting 18+ content#
On the upload form, batch upload, and Edit model, adults see an 18+ content checkbox. Tick it for anything in the list above. Print posts can be marked 18+ too, and a post on an 18+ model is 18+ automatically.
If a moderator marked your model 18+, only a moderator can change that. Email contact@communitycad.dev if you think it's a mistake.
Firearm files: where sharing them is legal for you, they must be marked 18+. Laws on sharing and downloading them differ by country and by US state, and following the ones that apply to you is your responsibility. We remove such files when we receive a valid legal notice.
