CommunityCAD for Klipper
What the plugin sends
Exactly what goes to CommunityCAD, what stays on your printer, and how to stop it.
Describes the private beta build of October 2026. Features may change before launch.
The plugin sends CommunityCAD only what it needs for what you ask it to do. Everything else stays on your printer.
Never sent#
These are read on the Pi, used there, and never sent to CommunityCAD:
- your printer settings (
printer.cfg), used for the build volume, speed limits and printer matching; - your print history, used to list prints you can share;
- the plugin's own settings, library and outbox, in
~/printer_data/communitycad; - your models, projects, materials and print profiles on the printer;
- your webcam and timelapses, which are never even read unless you turn on the setting that uses them.
There's no telemetry: the plugin doesn't report usage, errors or crashes.
Sent when you link#
- the plugin's name and version;
- the printer name (the Pi's hostname, which you can change);
- the permissions requested.
Sent when you use it#
| When you… | CommunityCAD receives |
|---|---|
| Browse or search | The search, and the size limits from your build volume when Fits is on |
| Send or download | Which model and file, so it can count your download |
| Share a print profile | Exactly what the preview shows (details) |
| Post a print | The photos, video and caption you chose |
Every request also carries the plugin's version, so CommunityCAD can tell it when an update is needed. CommunityCAD records when each linked printer was last used (at most once an hour), so you can see it on your Printers tab.
Where this data goes once it reaches CommunityCAD, how long it's kept and your rights are covered by the Privacy Policy.
Stopping it#
- Turn off a read permission in the plugin's Settings.
- Turn off sharing: set After a print to Don't share.
- Unlink the printer from the plugin, or disconnect it on CommunityCAD (profile → Printers). It can then no longer download or share anything as you.
- Remove shares: delete posts on the website. To remove print profiles you shared, email contact@communitycad.dev.
